Tour Plan
Day 1: Marrakech – High Atlas Mountains – Ait Benhaddou – Ouarzazate – Dades Valley
Your journey begins at 8:00 AM with pickup from your hotel in Marrakech. Cross the scenic Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 m) and admire the panoramic views of the High Atlas Mountains and Berber villages.
Visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait Benhaddou, a spectacular ksar famous for films like Gladiator and Game of Thrones. Continue through Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Africa,” then pass through the lush Skoura Oasis along the legendary Road of a Thousand Kasbahs.
Arrive in Dades Valley, where you’ll enjoy dinner and an overnight stay in a charming riad or guesthouse.
Day 2: Dades Valley – Todgha Gorge – Merzouga Desert
After breakfast, drive through the colorful Dades Valley toward the magnificent Todgha Gorge, where limestone cliffs rise dramatically above a crystal-clear river. Enjoy a relaxing walk and lunch in the gorge before heading to the desert town of Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara.
Here, your camel caravan awaits to take you on a two-hour trek across the golden dunes at sunset. Arrive at your Berber desert camp, enjoy traditional music, a Moroccan dinner, and a night under the breathtaking Saharan sky.
Day 3: Erg Chebbi – Desert Nomads – Rissani – Khamlia
Wake early to witness the sunrise over the dunes, an unforgettable moment. After breakfast, embark on a 4x4 desert excursion through the Erg Chebbi dunes, visiting nomadic families who share their way of life in the desert. Explore the Tissardmine Oasis, known for its fossil sites, and then visit Khamlia village, home to the Gnawa people, where you’ll enjoy a live performance of traditional African music.
In the evening, return to your camp or local accommodation for dinner and relaxation.
Day 4: Merzouga – Erfoud – Midelt – Azrou – Ifrane – Fes
After breakfast, depart for Fes, passing through the Tafilalt palm groves and the towns of Erfoud (famous for fossils) and Midelt. Stop in Azrou to meet the playful Barbary macaques in the cedar forest, then continue to Ifrane, known as the “Switzerland of Morocco” for its clean streets and alpine architecture.
Arrive in Fes by evening, where your unforgettable desert journey comes to an end.
